MEDMAT
MedMat is a wound change mat developed specifically to prevent cross-infection. Used to cover hospital beds and other areas while wounds are being dressed, MedMat provides a sterile surface on which the wound is treated, and prevents blood escaping onto areas that could come into contact with staff and patients.
Additionally, by incorporating a number of simple innovations, MedMat provides additional protection that further reduces the chance of cross-infection. These include an attached sealable waste bag for the disposal of used wipes, bandages and fluids, and the incorporation of two distinct layers of material. The first layer is for the removal of the old dressing and for cleaning the wound, and the second for dressing the clean wound.
With these design features, MedMat promotes good aseptic technique, the methods recommended by the medical profession to prevent the spread of infection.
